SIXTH TASK
Education has been dealing with many issues through times. One of them is a common belief that education is the place that you simply cross to get a job. The government is not giving possibilities to make any progress in real life, people are just trying to cope with difficult situations. People do not have the time to consider who is going to take the course of the country. Students need to develop their own critical knowledge and reinforce their capacities. Moreover, sleepwalkings are taking place while motivation is going down due to approaches that used memorization as a key tool. The education system needs a switch to enhance the ways in which knowledge is being acquired. Education not only takes place in schools and universities, but culture also influences individuals. Culture affects people's perception, we are able to acquire knowledge from different aspects within the culture. Nowadays, individualism is another issue that education has been struggling. Students need to be aware that they have to look beyond their own minds, and that they need to contribute to others life.
Hi there!
ResponderEliminarI really liked to read what you wrote, and I agree with all the things you named; for instance, the way education has been treated as an individual income generator for the government, they did not think about the students and their intellectual growth. However, I think you could have used some points from Dr. Giroux's lecture, just to support your ideas.
Melissa, I really enjoyed reading throughout your writing, it seems that you had a clear idea of what you wanted to express since the begining. Besides, I strongly agree with you when you talk about the education system, I think that in Colombia we as future teachers need to change the way of teaching that is used nowadays. We need to change students' perceptions about the world and life, and encourage them to go beyond of everything that is around us.
ResponderEliminarI really like how you adressed the different aspects and factor to talk about education. i reommend you to use some supporting details at the moment of giving your arguments
ResponderEliminarHi Melissa.
ResponderEliminarI liked your analysis, it is very clear, and you also mention important aspects about education and the mismanagement of it so that students become critical and they can face different situations. I agree on the part that you say that not only schools and universities are responsible for developing people's the critical and creative skills. It is clear that the culture has a great influence, for that reason we must have an open mind to be able to give several points of view to issues.
