Topic question: Is it important reading to children? l. Introduction Children’s brain is like a sponge, so they absorb all the knowledge you give them. Parents should take advantage of the stage in which they are to help them to develop their skills. Moreover, the benefits of reading to children are related to the brain’s stimulation, psychological features, and bilingualism development. (Thesis statement) II. Main idea #1 The brain is in charge of regulating all organs and is where the consciousness reside. It is also believed that is a muscle in which you can work on. In a sense, through reading, children are being stimulated in both hemispheres. Brain plasticity has a big role in childhood due to the experiences and knowledge children are acquiring. Education has been dealing with many issues through times. One of them is a common belief that education is the place that you simply cross to get a job. The government is not giving possibilities to make any progress in real life, people are just trying to cope with difficult situations. People do not have the time to consider who is going to take the course of the country.  Students need to develop their own critical knowledge and reinforce their capacities. Moreover, sleepwalkings are taking place while motivation is going down due to approaches that used memorization as a key tool. Stereotypes Stereotypes are all over the world, you can find it everywhere. We tend to overgeneralize beliefs from people that made part of a community, so if one person makes something immediately all of them are equals. Colombia is a small country, but it is full of stereotypes. We are always judging each other because of clothes, behaviors, thoughts, and others. You can not have fun pointing at other people. One local example is that people from Huila is lazy. This is due to a story that has been perpetuated through history. Our excuse is that it depends on the person, and the problem is that if you give an excuse, you are admitting that people from Huila is lazy. People need to stop giving reasons why they are not making part of that stereotype, people need to demonstrate that they are wrong. Words are not enough for someone who does not want to listen. FOURTH TASK-B

hace 7 meses THORMONEverybody dies. As a 79 year old I know I will die sooner than many of you. I am not afraid of death although I don't relish the process of dying. As an atheist I have faith that there is no afterlife, no heaven or hell. I feel lucky that I have lived a fairly comfortable life in this time and place against the infinitesimal probability that the elements I am composed of would have collected here on this planet instead of elsewhere in the universe.I believe that humankind is approaching the apex of existence and it will be all downhill from here until extinction.Cancer is an unpleasant way to die, my mother said if she knew the end would be so hard she wouldn't have stuck around so long. But at least it usually provides enough time to choose another way out. FOURTH TASK

My patients are dying. But it’s their right to keep going. POINT OF VIEW:  As a young oncologist, I confess I am not an expert in balancing aggressive treatment with preserving quality of life. But it is clear to me that end-of-life care is not checklist medicine. It is not just about statistics or studies. Achieving true shared decisions is an interactive process that takes time and engagement, leading to mutual trust. It is about continuously setting honest expectations for what is possible and making sure all parties truly understand what the consequences are likely to be. Sometimes what our patients need most is just more time: time to accept the terminal diagnosis and time to grieve and hopefully to find peace. Part of our guidance involves agreeing on the personalized therapies, be it “aggressive care” or more symptomatic control, that can deliver that meaningful extra month, hour or minute. SUMMARY FROM THE LECTURE OF STEPHEN BROOKFIELD ON CREATIVE AND CRITICAL THINKING

Stephen Brookfield says that thinking critically and creatively is important, because we start to question things that we probably believe are obvious, and we also start to open our minds to experience unusual things. He says that we definitely should implement this kind of learning in our classrooms by providing real-world illustrations and examples, e.g. it is important to let our students know the problems that are affecting our world. He also says that it is important to end discussions and exercises with questions, which I think is amazing because the student is going to feel that the process of learning is not just in the classroom, but also outside the classroom atmosphere. Personally, I believe that we should motivate our students to think outside the box and let them experience new things so as to give them the freedom to make mistakes and learn from them.

Reflection: emotional self-managment For me, the emotions that are most difficult to manage when others disagree with me are: Anger and surprise. I deal with these by remained serene and being reasonable, later on, the other person is going to be calm and the problem won't be bigger.
